I think that Lincoln was to poor to afford slaves. There were some slaves in southern Illinis at that time, but I don't think there were any in Sangamon County.
When he moved to Springfield from New Salem he was to poor to afford housing. Had to move in with Joshua Speed in one room about the Chatterton Drug store. Lived there for some time while he was studing law and before he was admited to the local Bar after his law exam.
Now Mary's family had slaves in Kentucky but that is a long way from Sringfield.
Springfield was a city of about ten thousand when Abe left for Washington and there was a small black population here. As a matter of fact there was a black barber who cut Lincolns hair for about 25 years while he lived in Springfield. You mention a hotel in your message. After Abe and Mary were married they lived at the Globe Tavern for some time before they bought a house. That is where their son Robert was born. The only other hotel in town was the St. Nick and it was not owned by Lincoln or any partnership he was involved with. As far as I know the only partnership he had in those days was his law office in which he had several partners in the 25 years he practiced in Springfield. As you may or may not know, most of his practice was as a circuit rider. Most of his practice in terms of his law office,was coperate in general terms. His best client was the Illinois Central Railroad. If he made any money it was there. But if he made any money it must have been lost becuase in her final years, Mary had to rely on the charity of her sister. She was somewhat extravigant in her spending right after he died but I don't know how much she spent.
So, in conclusion, He did not have any slaves.
