George and Chase: Agreed. I was not proposing that we should not speak up, but pointing out there are consequences. You nailed it by noting the difficulty in proving your case. Only if the employer was stupid enough to say he fired someone for exercizing their rights would there be a case. Of course, if the employee was not shown to be at fault from a business point of view, he could receive unemployment benefits. Small consolation.
The solution is for us all to speak up, and convert the employer so he would join in the statement. Until then, we should understand the fear Anonymous expressed, and encourage him, rather than condemn him. Men in combat who show fear are best served by their comrades bucking them up, not condemning them as cowards.
