No Steven, they are state employees that are there to conduct tours and answer questions for the most part.
There has never been any Federal money invested at the tomb. It was origionally built with penneys and nickles collected from the children of the state and by private donations. When it was rebuilt in 1933 all the money came from school children. In the last few years there have been some leaks in the roof area over the entrance and the state has paid for that work. I don't know if you have ever seen a picture of it but if you have, you will notice two winding sets of steps on each side of the main entrance that go up to the upper level. There is a stone floor on that level and it is starting to leak again so they have removed the stone and placed a "rubber roof" under where the stone sits and they have replaced the stone floor. The state is paying to that work also.. The folks that took the toy do not have any police powers. They are not sworn officers or any thing. We do have Fed's at Lincolns Home. Used to be an area where the ladies of the night hung out. Once the feds moved in and they ended up in the federal section of sangamon county jail, they don't hang out there anymore.
