Honestly, I just don't know. I am unable to get past 1850 Marion Co., Mississippi in the census records with any degree of certainty. There are several Purvis men who served in the CSA in Mississippi but because of this brick wall I just don't know of any connections we may share.

Grandpa did tell me as far as he knew our line started somewhere in South Carolina a d migrated to Mississippi. He also said he was second cousin to G-man Melvin Purvis, but again due to lack of records I cannot verify that claim.
