This was published in the 1879 "The North American Review" as a series called "The Diary of a Public Man" and is from a diary of an unknown Washington insider {Lincoln's Deep-throat}. For many years its authenticity has not been discredited, and many historians have tried to name the author. It is a fascinating work.
