For those of you who have the Adobe Flash Player plugin installed, you can view a lecture from Ed Ayers on "What Caused The Civil War". In my opinion, this is an outstanding lecture by an outstanding historian. Once you've arrived at the page look on the right-hand side and you'll see "Watch" and a big red button with the letter "F". Click on the button and a popup window will start playing the lecture or will tell you that you need to install the Flash Player with a link and some simple instructions.

We've been talking about this subject just recently and if you agree with all or some of professor Ayers conclusions, you can offer this up to "Newbies" when they ask that old and complicated question "What Caused The Civil War".
