As promised, and to be "Fair and Balanced", I've uploaded a service record for George Washington Overall of the 7th Tennessee Cavalry (Duckworth) (CS). This man is presidential political candidate, Barack Obama's ggg-grandfather from Covington, in West Tennessee. He was also a slave-owner according to the 1860 census. Apparently, Mr. Obama has been questioned about his Confederate and slave-owning ancestry and his paraphrased reply was that he was not surprised by it. It appears from a quick look that Mr. Obama's European-American ancestry is about 60% Union, about 20% Confederate and the balance unidentifiable.
