As I suspected

As I expected in my previous post the Soldiers vote was not needed to re-elect Lincoln if the Electorial College vote is any indication.

Lincoln 212 to McClellan 21.

Hardly a close race unless the popular vote was much closer than this vote shows. But then again under the Constitution the Popular Vote does not elect the President. The Popular vote only determines the individual states Electorial College vote. But there again the Electorial College delegates (Senators and House Repersentatives) are not legally bound to vote the way their people voted in the popular vote.

So Technically the people have no legal vote in the first place unless our representatives want us to have one.
