I am sure this subject has been talked about since Appomattox. But the following is my take on what would have happened if the South had've won their independence. I say won their independence, not subjugate the North. I think that if the South had've won their independence, then they and the North would have sooner or later made up so to speak and become friends and partners in trade, culture, allies, etc., possibly even re-united under a slightly different agreement and constitution. But if not, the North would have continued their dominence over the northern hemisphere in the Whaling industry and industrial trade and shipping abroad in the northern Atlantic. But I believe the newly independent Confederate States of Amarica would not only resume their trade with Europe and abroad, but would have been or become THE maritime power in the Carribean and the Southern Hemisphere. If I am not mistaken, we (the South) had ports of call and even depots in places in the Carribean and abroad. And even if they did not sooner or later reunite, I believe the South and the North would have remained to this day staunch allies.

Another scenario that has crossed my mind is the differences between sections of the South. If the South had've won their independence, some people think that sooner or later the Confederacy would have broken up, with Md, Va, and the Carolinas and possibly Ga as one section, Ala, Fla, Miss, and possibly Ga as another, Ky and Tenn as one, and eveything west of the Mississippi River another country of their own. Just some thoughts on the subject. What do y'all think? What are your opinions about what it would have been like if the South had've won the war and thereby won their complete independence?
