Just finished making 40 rounds for my six pounder. Another $300 for "The Cause" hehehehe. Probably won't shoot them all this weekend but whatever is left over, and what is already in the chest will make a nice demonstration for the end of deer season party at our "official" HQ. Ya gotta love being able to wander around, target shoot, drill, hunt, fish, and relic hunt on Gaines Mill Battlefield. It's a nice spot backing up to Boatswain's Creek (my wife caught a nice largemouth about 6 pounds in the beaver pond) and a stone's throw to The Watt House. The pasture on your left as you come in is where Patton plugged the hole in the Confederate Line and stopped "the breakthrough" in 1864. There are Gaines Mill and Cold Harbor trenches and artillery positions scattered all over The Adams Farm. Same name now, same name then. I'll read that book. But I gotta tell ya...I've only heard negative reviews about it. But I WILL read it. And one of my gun crew has a copy, so I'll procure it this weekend. I'll post back with my views. Thanks David and E.D. According to The Farmers Almanac and the physical evidence that I've seen, we are going to get cold weather and snow here in Virginia this winter. We've had eight good fogs in October and the acorns are more plentiful than the gravel in my driveway. That means good soup, chili, woodstove and READING weather coming up. I hear the midnight train out of Richmond coming down the old Richmond/York River Railroad tracks. Better get inside before the wife locks the door.
