19 letters from CW veterans

All,
I apologize for the short history, but I think its needful to understand where these letters came from.
About two years ago I was offered the opportunity to help publish about 1000 letters from Civil War veterans, who responded to a request for information about their experiences during the war.
This request was sent out, in 1937, to about 3000 surviving CW veterans by Mr. E.O. Hammond, who at the time was superintendent of the public schools in Plattsburg, Mo. About 3000 responded. When Mr. Hammond died about 3 or 4 years ago, he left the 3000 letters to 3 of his descendants, 1000 each. 2000 of those letters became lost by 2 of those relatives. The 1000 that I was offered, belonged to the Aunt of a friend of my family. That friend sent copies of 19 of those letters to me to look over. I made copies and sent them back.
To make a long story short, the Aunt had Alzheimer’s, and about a year ago I learned that she probably destroyed the 1000 letters in her possession. Our friend has tried to find out what happened to them, but so far all we know is that they were destroyed. He became depressed about the whole thing, and has lost interest.
He has told my family that he wants the information in the few remaining letters to be available to anyone who wishes it, and so I have posted scans of my copies to the link below.
There are several very interesting ones. I have no idea whether the information on them is correct or not.
I invite all interested to take a look at them. I scanned them just as they were given to me, most are transcribed, a few are not.
