Dennis...you took the words right out of my mouth. One specific thing that has always amazed me is a guy like Rush Limbaugh can claim conservatism and preach the doctrine of low taxes, small government, free enterprise, and constitutional law. While at the same time holding Lincoln on the highest pedestal. Lincoln originated big government, big spending, more taxes than ever before and in my eyes basically wiped up the floor with the constitution and tossed it in the waste bin. Black people view Lincoln as the Great Emancipator but just the slightest bit of research (start with the Lincoln - Douglas Debates) and you see that Lincoln actually held some racially supremist opinions and spoke of them publicly and often. And even this message board practices a "no Lincoln bashing" policy whether intentionally or not. Lincoln helped to create the Washington that we despise today. I don't get it. 620,000 dead Americans aside.
