No I did not know that. I don't fault him for fighting for what he believed to be right, I think a lot of men for the North believe they were fightingfor the constitution as well.

I have to agree if Beauagard had allowed the "supply" ships to dock at Sumter, and the mission was exposed for what it was, I think more of the Northen states would have looked favorbaly toward the South. Once the decision was made to fire, there was no turning back.
