Judy Canova

Okay you old timers, remember Judy Canova the "Ozark Nightingale" of the 30s, 40s and 50s, who was a very popular comedian? Her family was from Florida and many Canova's fought for the Confederacy. Her Grandfather, George P. Canova was a private in the 2nd Florida Infantry. After the war he was a local Democratic politician. He was apparently murdered in the post-war political turmoil of Baker County, Florida in the 1890s. The Canova's are one of the oldest families from Spain who settled in St. Augustine, Florida.
