That would certainly be true of many less technologicaly advances tribes, no doubt. Though their respect of liberities didn't extend to those outside the tribe. Slavery was also a fact of life. As it was in White Europe and Black Africa. I have no arguement that people are more free at a less tchnlogicaly advanced level. No speed limits...no cars... No enforced school atendance...no schools..no experoating on the sidewalk...no sidewalks. The more advanced that society becomes however, the more rules and restrictions will come into play. Even in Native American society. Witness the Incas and Aztecs and Mayans who had their own court of nobels and other caste members.
The Levellers believed that you would never have a perfect government on this earth. I agree. In the British Civil War, they were part of the Parliamentary forces. Those forces fighting for rights of parliamentary procedure over Divine right of Kings as exspoused by King Charles. The Levellers and the Diggers who were of a like philosophical bent were a small part of the parliamentary forces. Much as abolitionist were a very small part of the Union Army.
The Diggers however were of a communal mind. Holding all things in common. That's good if everyone contributes the same, but in reality never works out. I don't recall if the Levellers were as extreme. Most likely not, as the Diggers called themselves the "True Levellers". About always a sign of a more stricter order.
