When the movie... Cold Mountain... came out, many found the character of the young, fast gun and athletic blond Homeguardsman unrealistic and highly unlikely. Nope, not that unlikely at all. In fact the actual Captain Robert Teague of the Haywood County Home Guard (NC) may have had just such a man. I'm not really sure. They however did exist. Teague though older seemed quite a healthy type himself.
