One fact was left out of the movie, the Confederates and Union soldiers came to a short truce to bury the 800 dead Federals. The Confederates buried about 600 and the Union soldiers buried about 200. This was done the day after, and if it followed other such truces during the war it was only for a few hours. So, I would agree that this task was done in haste. Plus is there positive evidence that the exchange of words, the famous [Shaw being buried with his n___gers] ever happened or like so many misquoted statements was statement taken out of context? What other evidence is there that proves that Shaw was buried like in the movie; did the Confederates know which officer was Shaw? I believe he was buried together with all the bodies but how many other officers bodies were buried in a like manor? Shaw was a young, and up to then, unknown three month colonel, not a well known general, so why should the Confederates give his body special attention? A lot of questions here.
