But that's not the news.
The news is that the letters do not come from outraged members of the civil rights industry, as one would expect; rather, they are coming from ordinary Arkansans who accuse the man of dishonoring the CBF and the memory of the men who fought under its folds. The letters are well-written, articulate and to the point. No personal attacks on the man, other than to say, as the most recent letter stated, that he has no understanding of what the CBF really represents. I am proud of those who cared enough to write dignified responses to this misuse of the flag.
