Bona Fides

I see that we have some new posters who support the Union. Glad to have you aboard. Phil says that his dad fought in the South Pacific during the Second World War...so did mine, lost most of his hearing on Iwo. His mother left the South to achieve a better way of life. My mom left North Carolina for the same reason. Both Charlie and Phil state that they are glad the Stars and Stripes came out on top during the Civil War. Me too.

My 3X grandfather William Morgan Morrow was killed by Confederates at his home and thrown from the mountain he lived on to the road below...now the Joe Brown Highway...in early October of 1863. His sons, Lt. James K. Morrow, George W. Morrow, Aaron L. Morrow (my 2x grandfather) and William Marion Morrow were members of the 1st TN National Guard USA. On or about October 26 of 1863, they were jumped by members of Vaughan's Command in the Beaverdam TW. area of Cherokee County NC. My ancestors shot their way free. Their commander, Goldman Bryson was chased down and shot by Lts. Jim and Cam Taylor of Thomas' Legion CSA... Seventeen captured prisoners were allegedly killed on the shoals of the Tellico River in Monroe County TN. One thing is certain, they were never heard from in this world. A couple of days previous...October 24, 1863, James K. Morrow's two brother-in-laws by the Surname of Hickey were hanged by Capt George Tailor Bristol of the 39th NC Inf, CSA near Murphy NC. Charlie and Phil, I think this would support my Bona Fides as a Unionist.

However, I said all that to say this. I hope you both stick around. The thing is...using the pseudo Gestapo accent as a throw off on the Confederates...should that be what it was in the post to George...will do nothing but encite an endless flame war. People will windup saying things they don't mean to other folks on the board that they like and it will all spiral out of control. Jim Martin, the WebMaster, will then have to monitor all the post, which will just create more work for him. I'm sure he has enough. Let's just try to make our views know and let Oscar Wilde be acknowledged as the master of wit.
