James, thanks. I am not all that interested in the Civil War except that the right side won. I came here to read some posts that were called to my attention. I can assure you those "fire coming my way" doesn't bother me one bit but they better have at least rationality and logic as well the facts of the posts he answers straight. A certain poster had none of those right.

The fact seems to be that, when push came to shove on this law, even the southern courts found the idea that a citizen of a northern state, and a soldier, no matter what color, could NOT be held as "traitors" to a newly formed government they were never a member of. That was Phil's point. He called no one traitors.

PS My own question now is, however, if the rebs were not in rebellion, why did they call it the rebel yell?
