Your words George: "I can also see how you refused to answer simple questions and continually claimed you could not see how anyone (you meant blacks) could fight for a country that denied them their rights."

Clearly, Georgie you were twisting Phil's post saying that Massachusetts soldiers fighting for the Union could not ever legally be called "traitors" to a country they had never held allegience or residence or citizenship in, (a position upheld by a confederate court it has now been shown), into a statement that he NEVER made, about blacks not fighting for the south. You also said he that he had made this supposed claim "continuously". So let's play your game. It is YOUR turn now. Post these "continuous claims" that you say Phil made.

Phil did say that Cleburne proposed emancipation but that his proposal was quickly stifled by Jefferson Davis and Bragg and others. That Cleburne felt emancipation would have dramatically increased southern manpower available for the war effort, and earned needed recognition from Europe, and removed an important motivation for the north to continue the war, all three of of which would have been major factors in earning southern independence. The proposal, and independence at the cost of emancipation, was quickly squelched.

If you deny those facts, well take it up with the Cleburne Society. Not me. He is their rebel hero not mine.

On this board more so than any other you will find people who are continually researching for the truth. Yes I can see the full accuracy of your posts, how you would not accept legitimate answers to your question but kept fishing for someone to second your opinion and claim to be able to read the minds of men of 140 years ago. I can also see how you refused to answer simple questions and continually claimed you could not see how anyone (you meant blacks) could fight for a country that denied them their rights. Truth be known you were shooting straight at the Confederacy and in that corner placing all the blame, which is nothing more than one sided biased history. I even asked you to clarify which country you were talking about you couldn't even do that. By the way something else is a matter of historical record for this board; I did not make any personnel insults against you. I told you the plain simple truth, you might even say I was trying to help you get a along on this board, if you find that offensive so be it.
Good bye, so long, adios, don't let the door hit you in the butt.
