As a matter of fact, I have spoken in public a few times, mostly at local historical groups. I'm not especially good at public speaking, but I was honored beyond belief a few years ago when Doyle Taylor and his SCV camp invited me to be the keynote speaker at the dedication of the White Sulphur Springs Confederate Cemetery, a few miles west of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. They found, reclaimed and restored the cemetery, which had been part of the large Confederate military hospital complex at Camp White Sulphur Springs, and put together an impressive ceremony to dedicate it. It was a real tear-jerker. Very solemn and quite moving.
Doyle and I skirmish on occasion, but I love him like a brother, and we agree more often than we disagree. I don't know anyone more dedicated to preserving the memory of Confederate Arkansas than Doyle.
