Bryan my friend, if God created every one alike with the same opinions and likes and dislike wouldn't it be a bland world?

You my friend have done far more in the preservation of records and Muster than any of us and at least several thousand, maybe 10's of thousands, of researchers are endebted to you for that. The proper display of the Confederate Battle flag is a subject that will always draw contriversy. There are those of us who love that flag and there are those who absolutely hate it. That is nothing new.

This discussion thread has brougth to light many different opinions of how to use certain flags from usage as protest tools even the United States flag itself. I content that the CBF is also a proper tool. It is my opinion that you can love somethings so much that you can destroy it. There are many of us who, because of the stigma surrounding the CBF will not fly it. That is just human nature to try to avoid contriversy. But, if soldiers avoided battle there would never be a peace treaty signed.

My point was that the Motel owner had a right to fly that flag we all agree on that. But rather than attack the man or "reeducate him on the history of the Flag, no one ever purposed to write the Arkansas Dem-Gaz to ask them if THEY had a political agenda in the story. I have dealt with enough Newspapers to know that you can tell them one story and they will rewrite the story to fit their templet of what they want to say.

I content that the reason that the man is flaying the flag "because Obama was elected" is a leading statement that is intended to make the reader believe that the man was doing it only for RACIAL reasons. And we jump all over the man because of that statement without really knowing his intent and purpose.

To me, we who love the CBF are ourselves too sensitive and too quick to react without knowing the full picture.

I have a different perspective of the events of the 1950's and 60's than the common beliefs of the events of that era. Especially since I met Orval Faubus many years afterward before he died and found him to be a devout States Rights supporter.
