Shoot ain’t no problem I know everyone has a life outside these message boards. You gotta take care of yours first and then everything else will fall in place. I am about to run silent for awhile I am sicker than a dog. Don’t know why but every time the wind blows out of the n’west I get sick. Been like that since Katrina.

I love the exchanges we have, you are a worthy opponent, always well prepared and answers well though out. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Well it does to me that the South does get treated unfairly. I deal with that sort of treatment on a daily basis so when I see something on this board that is a negative reflection on the south, I feel obligated to point out the same situation existed in the North. I would suppose you could say my defenses are always up. I will say this I have found and posted a lot of instances where the South did consistently receive the short end of the stick in political dealings. Most people tend to overlook these situations and jump strictly for the slavery issue.

Actually the South had made several attempts to do away with slavery and these efforts for one reason or another failed. The Confederate constitution went at least as far as the US Constitution to ban slavery and the Confederacy only existed for 5 years. Give another 50-60 years as the United States had been given, I would imagine that slavery would have died a natural death. It is my opinion that slavery only comes to the front because that is the issue most people know about or the only one they have been taught in school. Also I once had a report that gave the number of abolitionist groups and number of members in the south. It was double the number in the North. These are the things I try to point out, secession was more than slavery, but the war was about federal property and broken treaties.

Well slavery was a right, just like today owning a car or a gun. I can see why they would want to defend this right. Perhaps the laws should have been changed and fair compensation offered to relieve the situation. Fault cannot be assigned to one side without the other side sharing the same fault. But then it is also true that not all Confederates owned slaves.

To be honest I only know one fellow who has a CBF on his house. Has a black family for next door neighbors. They get along well and actually fish together. I do know of several doctors, lawyers and businessmen who fly the CBF from their houses. What their motives are I won’t try to guess. It isn’t fair to them or the CBF.

Gotta get outta here. I’ll be back in a few days.
