Since the subject has been brought up there is a call for a new Constitutional Convention. The needed vote to pass is 34 states, there are 32 at this time; Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. If the last two states vote a body of people, more powerful than Congress, will meet to decide a new government. The vote has been taking place since the 1970s and a vote for the convention cannot be rescinded. Congress will determine how the states will select the delegates. This could be happening very soon.

If called, a modern Constitutional Convention could declare the U.S. Constitution to be null and void, and could completely rewrite the document. U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger once declared, "There is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda."
