Re: Constitutional Conventions
In Response To: Constitutional Conventions ()

You know David what we need maybe is a "sunset law" on such purposals and in fact on many of our laws. If I remember there is still a purposed amendment set in motion in 1861 which reaffirms and would reinstate Slavery and repeal the 13th Amendment, that is still on the books and while impractical now it in theroy could still be ratified by 35 more states and become an amendment to our present Constitution.

But maybe this Constitutional Convention is not entirely a bad thing. We could do like the old Confederacy did. Form a new country with the same original Constitution, but without all the extranious federal laws, because they would be declared null and void, since there would be no more United States. No membership in the United Nations, no trade treaties, no social or welfare programs, no federal regulations of schools, it may have some interesting possibilities and but a lot of problems no doubt.

Obama has already said that he's think the Constitution is too restrictive on the powers of the federal government. So they want to change the thing. So lets change it back to what it was. We DON"T Have to change to something different. If we circulate this idea maybe the one who want a Constitutional convention will become afraid of doing it.
