We must go back to the reason the South DID secede, to guarentee the right to keep slavery. The Lincoln/"Black" Republican party was the big threat in 1860-61 to that institution, the Southern leaders and Yeoman Farmers and many others knew that was a threat to their economic and social statis. Why did the John Brown raid cause such concern in the South?

Again, I keep asking myself should they have secedded when they did, and I still come up with the same answer, no... they were not propperly prepared.
