David......the way I understand it, the entire film project was a comedy of errors. Isle of Wight County was seeking damages (?) from the film company because all of the proper permits were not filed for and submitted for this project. Not sure what damages the county incurred unless they are trying to recover whatever legal costs were involved with the charges against this reenactor. It hasn't spoiled the county's love for history and reenactments though, as we have a pretty large event there in June that the county actually helps fund and promote. For anyone that is interested and might be visiting Virginia in the spring, there will be a large event on private property just south of Fredericksburg commemorating the 145th anniversary of Spotsylvania and The Wilderness on the first weekend of May.
