Some folks are a little touchy about having their opinions and beliefs subjected to such scrutiny. But I've always believed that it's healthy to be challenged. It sharpens your mind and causes you to reexamine your opinions to make sure that you're on firm ground. There's a principle in legal cases dealing with slander -- "The truth is always a defense." I think that also applies to discussions such as we've had here. If what we believe is true, it will always bear up even under the most minute scrutiny. If it doesn't, then your basic premises must be flawed somewhere, and you need to reconsider. Anyone who values truth over dogma will see that as a good thing.
Anyway, thanks again for prompting an excellent discussion.
