Re: Death by Vegetation

That was a rare read. I read a diary account of a tornado disabling a riverboat loaded with troops on an Alabama river late in the war. Two other unusual accounts I've read...

The time a hugh nest of rattlesnakes was discovered in a dead tree in a Confederate camp, which caused quite a stir when somebody set it afire; and the most humorus but still dangerous account of Louisiana troops camping in the lower Ozarks, who being from bayou country, and not used to river stones and cold, put ice-cold, water soaked stones in their fires to cook with. When the rocks got hot enough they started exploding with loud reports which sent stone shrapnel flying everywhere. I believe some of the men were wounded that night from the surprise they cooked up.
