I don't disagree with you. The formation of the Confederate government was virtually seamless. It proved, to the dismay of the Federal powers, that the myth that only a well established power central government could run the states. The facts are the states have always had the means and powers to run themselves. The states infrastructures were so well formed by 1860 that it survived secession easily. The Confederacy had all the departments and agency needed by a government up and running in weeks of its formation. Its amazing that people today don't realize the Confederacy was a fully functioning government, with the ability to print money, a postal system, a revenue system, a foreign affairs system, even a research and development system for new technologies.
