Actually the M-3 Stuart light Tank was named after General Stuart as was the M-3 Medium Tank called the "Lee" and the british version the "Grant" and the M-4 Tank nicknamed the "Sherman". Remember the Godfather of the American Armor during WW II was George S. Patton, who reportedly had confederate grandfathers and was supposed to have listen to stories told by John S. Mosby. And if I remember correct in the comic book the stuart tank commander was also Jeb Stuart. I'll have to get my old comic books out and check that thought.
