Pennsylvania Gazette, Oct 15, 1730

"RUN away on the 13th of September last from Abraham Lincoln of Springfield in the County of Chester, a Negro Man named Jack, about 30 Years of Age, low Stature, speaks little or no English, has a Scar by the Corner of one Eye, in the Form of a V, his Teeth notched, and the Top of one of his Fore Teeth broke; He had on when he went away an old Hat, a grey Jacket partly like a Sailor's Jacket. Whoever secures the said Negro and brings him to his Master, or to Mordecai Lincoln ... shall have Twenty Shillings Reward and reasonable Charges"

Mordecai Lincoln (1686-1736) was great-great-grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln.

I am assuming here that the Abraham Lincoln of Springfield in Chester County, Pennsylvania was Mordecai Lincoln's son. Although the dates would seem to suggest that he would have been a son of young age maybe 20. It is more likely that He could have been Mordecai's brother, or possibly even Mordecai's father.

Mordecai Lincoln called "Junior". This does not mean that he was the son of Mordecai Lincoln "Senior". Mearly that he was the younger of two men named Mordecai Lincoln in that area at this time. He was br. in Hingham Mass. 4/24/1686 and died Monmouth N.J. 5/12/1736. His son John was br. in Freehold N.J. 5/03/1716, died Linville Creek, Rockingham Co., Va. 1788. John's son Abraham was born in Berks Co. Pa. 5/13/1744, and was killed by Indians in Jefferson Co. Ky. 1786. Abraham's son Thomas was br. 1/06/1778 in Rockingham Co., Va. and died near farmington Ill. 1/17/1851. Abraham Lincoln 16th President of the United States br. 2/12/1809.
