Re: Mary Todd Lincoln on Slavery

I share those thoughts. I said this before, Lincoln's only redeeming quality was his speeches and writings, certainly not his actions. It is said Lincoln could recite Shakespeare's plays, being a great fan of the tragedies. I douldn't be surprised that many of Lincoln's quotes were not a twist on Shakespeare's words or some Greek philosopher.

Just looking around I found...

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." Lincoln

"It is better wither to be silent, or to say things of more value than silence. Sooner throw a pearl at hazard than an idle or useless word; and do not say a little in many words, but a great deal in a few." Pythagoras

I wonder if anybody has ever tried connecting those dots? Not to mention all the fake quotes associated with President Lincoln.
