"human trafficking"- Nope, this was abolished in the United State at the turn of the 19th Century. The Confederate laws forbid it. The United States Navy, manned proportionally by Southern born officers prior to the War, assisted with the capture of illegal slave ships and repatriation of slave to Africa according to treaties with Great Britain.

The myth of Lincoln ending slavery is a strong one to dispute due to his popularity, but

...he was very reluctant to end slavery until nearly the very end of the war.
...he was the last president to allow a new slave state into the Union in 1863.
...read the E.P., it doesn't free anybody. Slaves were kept working on plantations within Union controlled areas up until the end of the war. The Union army BOUGHT slaves from loyal plantation owners for about $300 a head to serve in the army, and were not freed until their service was completed. Making Lincoln's government the largest slave owner in that part of the world.
...he was a racist, and believed in slave removal from the United States. He was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of freed slaves left to die on a L'lle a Vache off Haiti.
...the slaves, more than any law passed or the help of any white man, freed themselves by destroying the institution with the added help by the effects of the war on it.
