Re: Natural forces of history
In Response To: Re: Natural forces of history ()

"Natural forces in history" are those events that are not interrupted by an intersecting events or forces,{my definition}. For instance, our economy is in trouble, coorporations are near failing, but the government is trying to put them on life support with federal dollars, this will probably only help for a short period. Some experts say let those failing coorporations go ahead and naturally fail and in the long run it will help the economy. The federal dollars are interrupting the natural death of these companies and may extend the economic down-turn we are experiencing.

I know this is the eb and flow of history, decisions and events are part of history, but knowing what we know was it better to have the E.P. or a shorter war as it seemed it was going to be (with the South still losing)? Would it have been better to have the abolitionist movement as it happened to interrupt the life of the slave system or wait its natural death?
