Later, in my civilian days, we went back to Duval County to shoot some Winn Dixie TV commercials at the hunting lodge owned by the Davis family, who owned Winn Dixie. Deer would gather round at night to get salt. They were like pets, and were of course off limits. Garbage disposal was handled by a very large alligator, who came up about sindown to clean up the trash pile of leftovers. The lodge staff were very nice folks as well. We also shot a commercial at their ranch in south Alabama, but that's another story and state.
The point is, that the rural parts of Florida are not much different than they were back during the WTBS. Stan
