Re: Abe's Watch-- ROFL!
In Response To: Re: Abe's Watch-- ROFL! ()

Or that it was taken from the Confederate White House and given to Lincoln on his visit to Richmond. Or maybe Jeff Davis' watch had been left in the repair shop in Washington when he resigned from the Senate and returned to Mississippi and Lincoln bought it not knowing it was at one time Davis' watch. There are just so many possibilities for us southerners to have fun with that. What would really be funny is if in the old Washington D.C. Police records you find a lost or stole report of Jeff Davis saying his watch had been stolen in 1859.

It is ironic that Abraham Lincoln's watch had Jeff Davis' name inscribed in it and Ole Abe probably didn't even know it. That is just TOooooo funny.

I think that the real funny part is that even the northern sympathizer working on the watch didn't put Abe's name in Abe's watch.

You would have thought that somebody over the period of 145 years, since Lincoln was shot, would have opened the case to at least inspect the mechanism or clean the watch for presevation and conservation purposes.
