But you see the Ultimate Sovereignty was actually given to the people under the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment was not enumerated to the people so they could go hunting or scare off bandits and indians. The power to defend yourself, whether it is as a single person, or as a state, or an entire nation, is Sovereignty. There is no vacuum in this sovereignty to be filled. So how am I making a leap of faith, when that faith is placed in the people's ability to govern themselves better than any elected government which has grown detacted from the people?

The people of the Confederacy became soveriegn when they chose to defend their rights. The individual state also become soveriegn again when they chose to express their independence from an overreaching central government.
