Re: Lost Cause?
In Response To: Re: Lost Cause? ()

The term “Lost Cause” has been used almost ad-nauseam to explain that the Southern Leadership (and many of the common folk) use of Secession reasoning, was for about everything BUT the right to have slavery.

Edward Pollard, Jeff Davis, Alexander Stephens, John Smith Preston, and many others tried to put the Southern Cause into a better light AFTER the war. This was because the threat of losing slavery, and that the slaves were going to be made equal with everybody, was unthinkable. This was the biggest reason used to push the Secession movement in 1860-61. It sounded better to hide the actual reason, under the moniker of “States Rights” during that Secession crisis. The same tactic is used after the war to put the events of the war under the new name of “Lost Cause”.
Too bad so many Southerners believed the hot headed leadership and newspapers spin on all the evils that was coming down upon them if they didn’t secede. The end product was that some of those evils happened because they Seceded & fired upon FT. Sumter.

I figure with the Government/mainstream media, that any protest, or action not in keeping with the Government's plans, will be met with severe resistance, legally or not.

I am now convinced that there was always going to be a central Government that would get bigger, swallowing up the individual rights of States, (and individuals), meshing with other forms of Governments (with the same mindset) leading up to the disastrous events as spoken about in the book of Revelations, in the Bible. Everyone would have to be on the “same page”!

I don’t think we can stop it, just make sure our salvation is assured so we are not doomed with that “Government mindset” in the end.
