Part of the problem is the modern educators are not as well versed in the historical events. Good grief, we have Coaches teaching History in High Schools and most students think it's a crip course. Another part of the problem is time constraints and the subject matter that has to be covered in the textbooks. Bet you can guess which 'era' has the most pages. It's in the 60's and not the 1860's. There has been a new trend of a more open, unbiased look at both sides reasoning for the CW in the newer Elementary texts though. The problem is that there is little time left for class discussion and where a 'good' teacher may inspire more interest in the subject.
