That's my point too. If I can get them to understand that there is information NOT in the textbooks that is factual, they see the there's a whole new way to look at the subject. In some cases the teacher said it has sparked interest in learning more and the librarian said she can tell when I've been to the class because they start wanting to check out nonfiction on the Civil War. I have found their minds are more open than some years ago. Maybe that's a good thing. We can always hope. After the past few years of hearing all of the political trashing going on in the news, they even accept that maybe even Old Abe wasn't all that honest.
