"Lost Cause" Revisited

Not long ago, we had an intersting thread about the "Lost Cause." Pam pretty much concluded that thread by posting,

"It's never lost as long as there are those who do remember and are willing to remind others of the sacrifices made all for the ideals of Life, Liberty and the Persuit of Happiness. As long as these principles are considered worth fighting for, it's never lost, maybe misplaced but the cause is not.

That reminded me of an often-quoted William Faulkner line spoken by Gavin Stevens in "Requiem for a Nun,"

"The past is never dead. It's not even past."

That about sums it up for me and, I believe, my Southern ancestors.
