So, the South Carolina Militia got the Charleston Arsenal by surrender in Dec. 1860 and Georgia got the Augusta Arsenal in January. So, before the first shot was fired, the Union was surrendering Arsenals? Good move on the local boys part but, I know the circumstances for the Charleston A's surrender but gotta look up the other one. Did the Union let them go because they didn't think there'd be more serious action later or could it be they were thinking to use it as a reason to justify starting a war?
