Personally, I didn't really give a rip about the rightness or wrongness of the details of what Perry said as to "why" we could secede. (Either way, he'd get plenty of argument from a lot of people). He wasn't, after all, suggesting we do the deed, only suggesting that the federal boys might want to keep in mind that people are getting a little tired of their shenanigans and who knows where that might lead. As I said ... a verbal shot across the bow of the fedrul gubmint. Of course he was rattling a saber in preparation for the fight with K.B. Hutchison; nonetheless, it was a point well received by many of his fellow Texans, including your correspondent.
