So what you are saying is that black regiments organized from ex-slaves in Tennessee were NOT included in the total of regiments raised in Tennessee for Union service. Certainly they were a part of the Tennessee population.

So we are only talking about "White Regiments" here. Because, for example there were several Black Kansas and Black Arkansas Regiments, Which fought in Arkansas. I believe that there were 6 organized from each of those states, although Kansas did not have a large black population before the war. All of those black state regiments were later reorganized and incorporated into the U.S. Colored Troops Regiments.

Those like regiments from Tennessee would not be included in your totals from what I gather. That was the basis of my question of this list from the O.R.'s.
