^5th Anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944

I think it not too far off track to honor those of the Greatest Generation, as they continue to pass on to be with their fellow Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Shipmates. My late father in law was a new recruit in June, 1944, having just graduated from high school in Fleming, kentuckey. He told me he wanted to be a Marine, but they had met their quota, so he went down the hall and became a Sailor. Less than a year later he was triggerman on a 40mm AA gun on LST 17, in the Battle of Okinawa. Look up Homer Kuhl on the WWII Memorial site, under Registration. He wasn't sure if any of his family was in the WTBS, but was always interested in hearing about mine. Thanks, Jim. Stan
