I suppose these men were of no influence or consequence to the Southern folk?
Define to me what is “Southern”, George? I read an SCV Newsletter that defined “Southern” and it was revealing that all the things listed applied to a feller I work with…we will call him “Ted” to protect his identity…
ALL the things they listed applied to “Ted”, but the writer of the newsletter would be shocked to know that “Ted” grew up in Ohio, in a house that was used to help out with the under-ground rail-road in the 1850’s! “Ted” is a church goer, believes in Christ, is Conservative, likes Iced Tea, a hard worker, honest, great family man, helps others…wish I had saved the “list” the writer had come up with, heck, I fit a lot of what the writer proclaimed as “Southern”, and I was born in California!
