Neither general had the authority to speak for the entire Confederacy. That is the point I have been trying to make to Kevin, he can find a quote, I can find a quote to counter his, and so what does that prove??? Nothing. It is just a matter of picking what you want to post. Now when someone can show me where Lincoln, Davis the northern States, or the Southern states stated they are going to war over the institution of slavery, then I will believe it. If it is such an important institution worth going to war over surely there is at least one instance where it is written.
