And had Jeff Davis been assasinated by a yankee early in the War, or perhaps even later, it could have turned the tide. England and France may very well have formally recognized the CSA; Union pacifists would have grown in number; and the new Commander in Chief would surely have made better decisions in regards to logistics and choosing generals. Black men would have been inducted into the army as full fledged musket bearing soldiers.
Jeff Davis would have been a powerful martyr....he could have been the father of our country.
